What is a language most leaders never get taught?

Yesterday was International Literacy Day, and it got me thinking about a language we often forget to learn: emotional literacy.

We’re trained in strategy, finance, and tools. But how often are we trained to understand ourselves—or to really hear others?

Emotional literacy is more than naming feelings. It’s the ability to read the room, notice what’s unsaid, and catch signals in ourselves and others before they turn into frustration or disconnection.

It’s the very sense of our humanity. So why do we dismiss it so often?

In business, this matters more than we admit:

- Teams thrive when people feel seen, not just managed.

- Leaders gain trust when they listen beneath the surface.

- Collaboration deepens when we can articulate both needs and fears.

And in your personal life and growth, it is just as important: Emotional literacy helps us step out of autopilot and into choice. It gives us clarity, instead of reactivity.

Without it, we miss the very thing that makes us human in the first place: genuine, honest, heart-felt connection.

If you’re curious about how to strengthen this muscle for yourself or your team, if you'd like to check if your center of action is connected to your values, reach out!

September is a reset button.

How does it feel to read that?

Summer slows down, the Equinox arrives, and it’s the perfect moment to pause and refocus.

September has that new year energy — back to work, back to school, and a chance to recalibrate. To check that values and direction are still aligned.

A yearly reminder to cut the noise and return to what matters.

My nudge this week:

- What can you let go of?

- Where is it most important to sharpen your focus?

- What’s worth for you recommitting to?

Leaders who reset create space for their teams to do the same.

Clarity at the top steadies the whole system. Are you ready to best start (or recommit-to) serving yourself and your team?

Make today your chance to strip things back, get intentional, and move forward lighter.

What’s one thing you want to reset or refocus on this month?

The most productive August should be is… rest.

cat relaxing on a hammock with hat

[TL;DR for the busy people]
👉 Investing 5 seconds in yourself to touch the palm of your hand could be a powerful move toward your next career step.
Crazy, I know. Even crazier: it works.

But for those curious to linger a little longer…
August has its own rhythm. Can you hear it? It’s the shhh of the waves.

I love August. It’s the most summer of months — the one that invites you to slow down, stretch out, and exhale.
Did you know July 5th was National Workaholic Day?
I suspect most workaholics didn’t notice at all. Too busy rushing. Too busy proving their worth = productivity.
Too busy half-logging off before the holidays.
Maybe August deserves a Global Workaholic Day too as a cheeky three-week check-in, in true business fashion.

🌿 My wish for you: that this August you’ve found at least a few moments of real rest. To switch off not only your laptop but also the constant hum in your head.
And if you haven’t — here’s your reminder.

We’re at August 20th. There are still 10 days left.
Can you make rest and reconnection a priority for what’s left?
Small ways are perfect ways.

Sure, if you can vanish to a spa for a week — chapeau!
I prefer to think that the smaller, consistent gestures matter more. The important thing is to begin.
Yes, there’s research behind this:
5 seconds of pausing to admire your palm, or touching your fingertips together with intention, can shift your nervous system and recharge your focus.

🐈 If you’ll allow me a cat image (please do — we all love cats):
I call this the breath before the wiggle moment.
Like a cat crouched before the jump:
1. Breathe.
Let August be your wiggle moment — the pause that strengthens your September.
2. Then comes the actual wiggle: shuffle, tail flicking, muscles tensing, eyes locked.
✨ Next week I’ll share a checklist to help you prepare for the jump — one that clears the noise, keeps the focus, and lets you move at a pace that’s yours.
So give me the joy of sharing that with you: follow this page.

And if this resonates and you want to go deeper — if you’d like to explore what rest really means for you, and how to align your pauses with your deepest priorities so you can return with full energy — I’d love to explore that with you. It is as easy as a ping away:

Which type of pain are you accustomed to?

My nightstand book at the moment is titled 'Lessons from the Bedside', by Breda Casserly.

My nightstand book at the moment is titled 'Lessons from the Bedside', by Breda Casserly.

I found myself thinking a lot about the emotional pain discussed in this book.

Psychological pain is often silent, but we know now that it does impact our health and how we show up in the world.

This type of pain can be just as intense—if not more—than physical pain. It’s the ache of loss, the sting of rejection, the heaviness of anxiety, or the quiet despair of feeling stuck. Unlike a broken bone, it doesn’t show up on an X-ray. But it’s real. And it matters.

In my coaching practice, I often meet people who are high-functioning on the outside but quietly struggling within. They’ve learned to mask their pain, to “power through,” to keep going. But healing doesn’t come from ignoring what hurts. It comes from acknowledging it, understanding it, and gently working through it.

This book explores how this type of pain also needs to be tended to.
In an accelerating world run by machines and immediate reward, feeling deeply is a sign of caring, and a sign of strength.

It is a signal—not a sentence. It’s your mind and body asking for attention, care, and change.

Whether you're navigating burnout, self-doubt, grief, or a major life transition, you don’t have to do it alone.

Coaching can offer a safe, structured space to explore what’s beneath the surface and begin the journey toward clarity, resilience, and renewal.

✨ Healing begins with awareness. Growth begins with support.

If this resonates with you or someone you know, I invite you to reach out. Let’s talk.

Tea with your monsters?

I’ve been there too.

I wasn’t always a coach.
I’ve also sipped my teas—and wrestled—many times with the same overwhelm, imposter feelings, and “am I doing enough?” spirals that so many of my clients face.

I know what it’s like to look like you’ve got it all together on the outside…
To care deeply—and still feel stuck.
That’s part of what drew me to coaching.
Not to fix people. But to offer the kind of space I wish I had back then:
Honest. Human. Not about having all the answers.

If you’re in that place right now, just know:
You’re not alone → It’s part of being human.
You’re not broken → Many feel this way. There is more to life than fear.
And it can get easier → And I’m here for it.

Why “later” rarely comes.

Why ‘later’ rarely comes. Sounds familiar?

Why ‘later’ rarely comes. Sounds familiar?

It’s Tuesday.
Maybe your calendar’s already overflowing.
Maybe you’re telling yourself “I’ll think about this later.”
Totally normal.

But here’s why it sounds familiar: later is sneaky.
DIY coaching is like buying the running shoes… and never going for the jog.
You could do it later.
But how often does “later” quietly turn into never?
I see this all the time:
Smart, capable people stuck in loops of overthinking, second-guessing, or waiting for the “right” moment.

The real talk is that change doesn’t need a grand plan.
It just needs a starting point.

Coaching isn’t about pushing harder.
It’s about pausing with purpose—and deciding that now is good enough.

If you’ve been telling yourself “I’ll do it later,” consider this your Tuesday nudge.

Let’s talk. No pressure—just a space to start.

Maybe you’ve been thinking you’d like some of that spark back…

Bullet point list of what you get when you work with me. Space to pause, think clearly, clarity

What do you get when you work with me?

Maybe you’ve been thinking you’d like some of that spark back.
That there has to be more than this.

Well, the weekend is here to give you a little space to think. :)

So… what do you get when we work together?
Coaching is a partnership.
Whether it’s 1:1 exec coaching or team interventions, we design together for real change—not checklists.

Because let’s be honest: most of us don’t need more to do.
We need space to slow down, think clearly, and get unstuck.
My coaching isn’t about fixing you.
It’s about helping you see what’s already working, what’s getting in the way—and what’s next.

Sometimes that means deep conversations about leadership.
Sometimes it’s practical tools for your team.
Sometimes it’s just having someone in your corner who gets it.

If you’re feeling stretched, stuck, or like something’s just off—you don’t have to figure it out alone.
This is the work I love.
Let’s make it feel a little lighter, together.

“My team just doesn’t get it.”

It all begins with an idea.

Ever heard a manager say this?

“My team just doesn’t get it.”
In a session last week, a manager admitted, “Honestly, I feel like my employees are just... stupid.”
Oof. That’s a tough one to hear. But we didn’t flinch—we got curious.
What we uncovered was powerful.

Underneath that frustration was a deeper truth:
➡️ He felt unsupported.
➡️ He was drowning in pressure.
➡️ He didn’t know how to actually communicate what he needed.

It wasn’t about his team. It was about his disconnect—from himself, from others, from what kind of leader he wanted to be.

We didn’t jump to feedback models or performance plans.
We started with awareness. Ownership. Compassion.
Because when leaders shift from blame to self-inquiry, everything changes.
✨ From “they don’t get it”
→ To “what am I not seeing?”
That’s where growth begins.

Ever had a moment like that—on either side of the conversation?
If you're ready to explore that kind of shift—for yourself or your team—I'm here to support the next step.

Metamorphosis & Coaching

It all begins with an idea.

🐛🦋 Feeling stuck isn’t failure — it’s compression before the leap.
You’re not lazy. You’re not lost.
You’re *mid-metamorphosis.*

I work with people who know something needs to shift, but can’t quite name it yet.

I urge you to ask: What if you’re moving forward, even if you feel stuck?
What if this in-between space is a gift to understand it is time for you to change something?

Coaching isn’t advice. It’s a mirror, a pressure valve, and space for you to move towards your own truth.

I’ve opened up space for a few 15-minute chemistry calls — low stakes, high honesty. Come if you’re curious…

You bring your ‘stuck.’ I’ll bring the questions.

The Power of Vulnerability in Coaching

Light with leaves to suggest a good idea and how vulnerability helps in coaching

In the realm of coaching, vulnerability is not a weakness but a profound strength. It is the cornerstone of building a meaningful and effective coaching relationship.
When individuals allow themselves to be vulnerable, they open the door to genuine personal growth and transformation.

A *strong personal connection and trust* between a coach and a client are essential. This bond fosters an environment where clients feel safe to share their deepest thoughts and challenges. Trust is built through consistent, empathetic interactions, and it is the foundation upon which successful coaching is constructed.

To strengthen this, *confidentiality is a critical aspect of coaching* . Clients need to know that their conversations with their coach are private and secure. This assurance allows them to be open and honest, facilitating deeper insights and more effective coaching outcomes.

Free Chemistry Call 🛰️
To ensure that potential clients feel comfortable and confident in their coaching journey, I offer a free 10-15 minute chemistry call.
